2013 Taipei Film Festival announced the surprise films of its 15th edition, which are Spring Breakers, a dark comedy/drama starring chameleon-like Hollywood’s golden boy, James Franco, and Zone Pro Site, a Taiwanese comedy which is expected to be the hit of this summer.
Spring Breakers, directed by American director Harmony Korine whose previous works include Gummo, follows four sexy college girls who plan to fund their spring break trip to Florida by burglarizing a fast food shack. After a rambunctious party, they are arrested on drug charges. Hung-over and clad only in bikinis, the girls are unexpectedly bailed out by an infamous local thug and rapper named Alien, who takes them under his wing and leads them to be implicated in a series of violent acts and crimes.
The other surprise film Zone Pro Site, a high-spirited and scintillating comedy based on traditional Taiwanese catering culture, will have its world premiere on the last Friday evening of the festival. Directed by Chen Yu-Hsun, a cinematic maverick best-known for his local-style comedies, Zone Pro Site is his first feature film in 16 years. The screening will be held at 7 pm, July 12th at Taipei Zhongshan Hall, accompanied by the attendance of director Chen, executive producers Yeh Ju-Fen and Li Lieh, and the leading cast.
The TFF Ticket Packages are available at 7-11 i-bons nationwide. Single tickets will be for sale from June 15th. For more information, please visit Taipei Film Festival's official website at http://www.taipeiff.org.tw and Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TaipeiFilmFestival.
